rjd creative’s marketing and design process
can be summarized in these 3 phases:
RESEARCH
1. Define the goal or desired result
The result is often tied directly to a company’s
bottom line, through increased sales, exposure
or increased customer base.
2. Define the audience(s)
It is key to define who you are going to be talking
to, in order to create marketing messages
that your customer can relate to on their level.
3. Define the competition
Who are your competitors? What is their position?
What are their marketing messages telling
their — and your — customers?
POSITIONING
4. Review/create the company/product name
The name is the first and most lasting impression
you imprint on your customer’s mind.
5. Create the position
A position is a single, simple, unifying idea which
you will imprint on your customer’s mind
through your marketing messages.
6. Create the marketing
messages
Using your company’s established position,
we will create marketing messages that will later
be used consistently in your company’s marketing
materials.
MARKETING STRATEGY
7. Define the marketing channel(s) appropriate to
the audience(s)
It is pertinent to define how your customer receives
their information, and communicate your
marketing messages through that channel.
8. Define the marketing
component(s) appropriate to both channel(s) and
audience(s)
Once the marketing channels are defined, it is possible
to choose marketing components that
are approriate to that channel and to your audience.
9. Create and distribute
the marketing communications
This is where many companies begin — and it's
a big mistake. Good creative only grows out of thorough
research, solid positioning and a precisely defined
marketing strategy.
